The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti (FPA) was established in 1977 where it had originally started as a College of Technology in Jos before it was relocated twice, first to Akure and finally to its permanent site in Ado-Ekiti in 1982.

The institution has recently expanded from five to eight academic schools. These schools offer various National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs across over 35 departments.
