About Nigeria Immigration Service

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) was established in 1958 and is the federal agency that is responsible for managing migration, enforcing laws against smuggling, security of the borders and issuing travel documents in Nigeria.

The agency usually opens the recruitment portal for a limited timing period of two weeks to enable applicants who wish to apply for various roles across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Assistant cadres to apply before going to a passport office for biometric enrolment.

The Nigeria Immigration Recruitment Process

  1. Application submission is the first stage. Recruitment into the immigration is usually conducted by the Civil defence, corrections, fire and immigration board (CDCFIB). So applicants would have to go to recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng to sign up when the recruitment starts.
  2. Screening and shortlisting; only those who are eligible will be shortlisted and invited for an online exam which would last for a period of thirty minutes.
  3. After passing the test, successful applicants will be invited for physical efficiency tests, medical exams, and interviews.
  4. The final stage is selection and deployment.

Things to Note about the Nigeria Immigration Exam

  1. You must use a laptop device for the test for ease of convenience. But if for any reason, you’re using a phone, then put your browser in “Desktop Mode” so that all the questions and buttons (like “Next”) are visible.
  2. Most people who used phones in previous exams complained of not being able to scroll well or see the complete questions.
  3. It is important to note that during the exam, you would be watched by the system which is AI monitored and programmed to disqualify people who have interruptions in their backgrounds like suspicious movement and so on.
  4. If you attempt to open another browser tab, minimize the exam window, or leave the page for any reason, the system may automatically submit your answers and lock you out.
  5. You are expected to log in to the CDCFIB Portal at least 30 minutes before your scheduled slot for photo verification and to stay in the virtual waiting room.
  6. The test is only for one hour but you can finish it in 30 minutes. Just avoid doing things that will make them disqualify you for this period of time.
  7. Avoid making suspicious body language such as looking away from the screen for too long, repeatedly turning your head, or talking to someone off-camera as it can trigger a malpractice warning or instant disqualification.
  8. You must only log in from one device. Any attempt to log in with a phone first and then switching to a computer (or vice versa) can lead to the system blocking your account for the duration of the session.
  9. You need to ensure that your device is fully charged and your internet connection is strong otherwise if your connection drops for a significant period, the system might auto-submit your test.
