About the Nigerian Police Academy

The Nigerian Police Academy (NPA) was established in 1988 by the federal government with the primary purpose of training police officers and offer both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in law enforcement and related fields. 

Candidates who wish to study degree programs must undergo a five-year academic and police training and at the end, get awarded a bachelor’s degree and at the same time will be commissioned into the Nigerian Police Force as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

POLAC Admission Process

  1. The admission process for Police Academy begins with getting the JAMB cutoff mark, after that visit the Nigeria Police Academy admission portal to fill out the application form, upload required credentials (SSCE, birth certificate, LGA indigene form), and generating a unique Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) code for the application fee.
  2. After that, candidates who successfully submitted application would be invited to sit for a Selection Examination (CBT), usually held in Wudil, Kano, or designated CBT Centres. You must pass the cut-off to advance.
  3. Candidates who pass the admission examination shall then report for physical measurement (height/chest) and document Verification to ensure that all their uploaded credentials match original copies.
  4. After which, they would undergo medical screening to ensure that candidates are physically and mentally fit to go through the police training.
  5. After which, there would be a “Selection Board Interview” which is the final stage where candidates would appear before the Police Academy Selection Board for a formal interview, which includes a Psychological Evaluation.
  6. Then the list of successful candidates or admitted students will be published on the official Nigeria Police Academy website.
  7. Successful candidates will then receive their Admission Letters and report to the Academy in Wudil. After completion of the 5-year program, they would be commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP).
